On the Average Complexity of Brzozowski's Algorithm for Deterministic Automata with a Small Number of Final States

چکیده
We analyze the average complexity of Brzozowski’s minimization algorithm for distributions of deterministic automata with a small number of final states. We show that, as in the case of the uniform distribution, the average complexity is super-polynomial even if we consider random deterministic automata with only one final state. We therefore go beyond the previous study where the number of final states was linear in the number of states. Our result holds for alphabets with at least 3 letters.

MINIMIZATION OF DETERMINISTIC FINITE AUTOMATA WITH VAGUE (FINAL) STATES AND INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY (FINAL) STATES
In this paper, relations among the membership values of gener- alized fuzzy languages such as intuitionistic fuzzy language, interval-valued fuzzy language and vague language are studied. It will aid in studying the properties of one language when the properties of another are known. Further, existence of a minimized nite automaton with vague ( final) states for any vague regular language recog...
متن کاملTREE AUTOMATA BASED ON COMPLETE RESIDUATED LATTICE-VALUED LOGIC: REDUCTION ALGORITHM AND DECISION PROBLEMS
In this paper, at first we define the concepts of response function and accessible states of a complete residuated lattice-valued (for simplicity we write $mathcal{L}$-valued) tree automaton with a threshold $c.$ Then, related to these concepts, we prove some lemmas and theorems that are applied in considering some decision problems such as finiteness-value and emptiness-value of recognizable t...
متن کاملDISTINGUISHABILITY AND COMPLETENESS OF CRISP DETERMINISTIC FUZZY AUTOMATA
In this paper, we introduce and study notions like state-\linebreak distinguishability, input-distinguishability and output completeness of states of a crisp deterministic fuzzy automaton. We show that for each crisp deterministic fuzzy automaton there corresponds a unique (up to isomorphism), equivalent distinguished crisp deterministic fuzzy automaton. Finally, we introduce two axioms related...
متن کاملDistribution of the number of accessible states in a random deterministic automaton
We study the distribution of the number of accessible states in deterministic and complete automata with n states over a k-letters alphabet. We show that as n tends to infinity and for a fixed alphabet size, the distribution converges in law toward a Gaussian centered around vkn and of standard deviation equivalent to σk √ n, for some explicit constants vk and σk. Using this characterization, w...
متن کاملForward Bisimulations for Nondeterministic Symbolic Finite Automata
Symbolic automata allow transitions to carry predicates over rich alphabet theories, such as linear arithmetic, and therefore extend classic automata to operate over infinite alphabets, such as the set of rational numbers. Existing automata algorithms rely on the alphabet being finite, and generalizing them to the symbolic setting is not a trivial task. In our earlier work, we proposed new tech...
